What are the different types of coaching?

At ideamix coaching, we divide coaching into three broad categories: professional enhancement, personal enhancement, and business-related coaching.

Professional Enhancement

This type of coaching is oriented towards those working within an established organizational structure. It can be effective in both individual and team settings.

Executive coaching (C-suite): For senior-level leaders in organizations designed to help them grow and evolve, even once they have reached a career pinnacle. This type of coaching helps enhance leadership skills and improve decision-making abilities by serving as a trusted intermediary to test new ideas, challenge assumptions and introduce an executive to new approaches and evolve their mindset. These one-on-one conversations position leaders to rise to today’s dynamic and complex challenges and future proof an organization.

Leadership coaching: For individuals (employee-managers) at any level of an organization, including executives, focused on improving their ability to lead successfully. Through individual guidance and support, this type of coaching is designed to develop skills for success in a leadership role, including improving performance, achieving business-related goals, and solving problems in marketing, sales, operations, leadership, and team dynamics. When a leader is new to an organization or a role, it can also help accelerate their performance, impact and success in their first days. Leadership coaches help current and future leaders identify areas for improvement, develop specific skill sets necessary for success in a leadership role, and learn how to apply those skills most effectively.

Career coaching: For individuals at any level focused on fulfillment, creating a strategy for growth and advancement and developing career-related skills and knowledge. This can also help individuals (employees) manage transition points in a career (workplace entry, organizational onboarding, promotion, post-acquisition, retirement), enhance critical interpersonal skills (emotional intelligence, executive presence, challenging conversations, negotiations and presentation) and develop a strong personal brand.

Personal Enhancement

Wellness coaching: Designed to create a more fulfilling life, this coaching takes a holistic approach to an individual’s life, examining relationships, finances, health, and intention in addition to career to define a path to improving an individual’s well-being. This can help an individual manage life transitions (becoming a parent, caregiving, divorce, becoming an empty nester), improve decision-making, find clarity and refine goals, cultivate resilience and coping strategies, create balance, mindset shifting, and find purpose.

Spiritual coaching: Designed to connect an individual with their spirituality and live a more meaningful life focused on purpose, values, and personal growth.

Relationship coaching: Focused typically on helping individuals improve their personal and professional relationships by developing interpersonal skills that empower an individual to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, set boundaries, and build stronger relationships.

Business-related

Business growth coaching: For entrepreneurs designed to focus on developing a business, it focuses on strategy, market opportunity, innovation, operational process optimization, building a team and developing marketing and sales strategies.
