Ēkhô reapproaches wines rooted in history

Based on the idea of re-approaching wine territories of historical significance, ēkhô wines are produced in selected plots that form strong bonds with vine growing and wine production throughout the centuries and in most cases, they used to produce renowned wines in ancient times. The project concerns mainly isolated plots, difficult to reach and cultivate. The passion of the vine growers is the core reason that these single vineyards are still existing and producing rare and low-yield fruit. Taking its name from the word Echo (derived from Greek ἠχῶ), ēkhô is linked with the senses of reflection and transportation, reflecting the present moment while remaining in continuity with the past. Producing wines from vineyards originally planted 50 or even 200 years ago, ēkhô brings old vines of both known and unknown varieties back to life through a contemporary approach.

For ēkhô white of 2021, grapes are sourced from a high-altitude, single vineyard at 600m on the foothills of Mountain Za in central Naxos, while for the ēkhô rosé of the same year, grapes are sourced from a single vineyard, 1km far from the sea and at 200m of altitude at north Naxos. For the ēkhô red of 2020, grapes are sourced from a single vineyard, close to the sea at northeastern Lemnos – one of the last remaining ungrafted vineyards of the island.
